What is Penpoints?
Penpoints is a “phygital” app letting children practice handwriting of wordlists without adult supervision.
As illustrated in this demo video, each exercise follows those steps:

child handwrites on paper the words dictated by the app - SNAP

While adults (parents, tutor, teacher, special need educators,…) don’t need to be present, they can review the results and assign exercises.
How can teachers use Penpoints?
Teachers can use Penpoints to boost practice of spelling and handwriting in class and at home by combining 4 main features:

Assess the app for free
For free, teachers without a school plan can deliver homeworks and try other features:
– send 1 exercise per week through the “automated homeworks” feature
– try the “spellstation” feature with 90 free credits (for example to let 5 groups of 6 students try the feature 3 times on the class tablet)
– try the “live class assessment” feature up to 5 times with the students who joined the class on their device
– assign up to 30 “individual exercises” to students whose parents installed the app on their device
Invite teachers to earn free credits
To keep using all features without paying, a teacher can earn credits by referring Penpoints to other teachers outside their school. Simply invite fellow teachers to try Penpoints by adapting our suggested messages for email, group chat or social media.
When a teacher mentions you as a sponsor during app configuration:
– you will be offered 100 credits to use for spellstation challenges, more frequent weekly homeworks, live-class assessments or individual assignments
– the sponsored teacher will also receive 100 additional credits to have more time to assess the tool (and convince his school to subscribe to a Penpoints for schools plan…)
Alternatively, once we introduce a paid Premium version for parents, you will unlock unlimited features for all children of the class when at least half of the class’ parents subscribed. The only thing you will need to do is to invite parents to install the app to receive the weekly spelling homework that you will automatically plan, distribute and grade through Penpoints…

Child will then automatically receive the teacher’s spelling homeworks, will be able to take additional exercises and will be able to rate his own work during in-class live assessments.
Is PenPoints free for teachers?
Yes! PenPoints is free for teachers for the first academic year. Afterwards, teachers who can’t subscribe to the paid version will be able to continue using the homework feature with limited access—allowing one exercise per class at no cost.
How does Penpoints protect personal data?
Penpoints is committed to privacy and data protection. We securely store only necessary data, including a child’s first name, school, class, teacher, and exercise results (photos, scores, and word-level results). Parents can only view their child’s results, while teachers have access to the performance data of their class. Teachers and parent can delete above mentionned data at any time.
We never share personal data with external partners and do not run ads within the app.
What kind of devices does PenPoints support?
PenPoints is designed for mobile and tablet devices, ensuring accessibility in classrooms and at home. The app works seamlessly on both iOS and Android platforms.
An Internet connection is necessary to use the app.
Can I track my students’ progress with PenPoints?
Absolutely! PenPoints provides detailed analytics that show individual and class-wide performance. You can easily identify which students need more support and adapt your teaching strategies accordingly.
How do I get started with PenPoints?
Simply download the app, set up your class, and start creating group challenges for students to compete on your class’ tablet.
